Hello everybody

Hello everybody!  How are you this morning?  I hope that many of you show up here every day, but if you happen to be a first-timer, let me offer a special welcome.  I hope you'll come back too.  This is a blog about being kind.  No bells and whistles here.  We don't even have fancy graphics or photos.  About the same time every morning, I sit down and write something about kindness.  I hope it helps.  I know it has helped me.  I now seem to think about the kindest way to approach things in any situation.  Please feel free to share this with your friends and to make comments below.  Oh and come back often!

Arnel's Foundation

Have you heard of Arnel Pineda Foundation Inc?  Have you even heard of Arnel Pineda?  (Well, I believe APFI operates solely within the Philippines with no outside affiliations, but check them out though).  They do good things.  I made a mention here a few years ago.  Their website is at https://arnelpineda.org/  It's the time of year when folks share love, and I know they would appreciate yours!

Yesterday I attended a funeral.  The church was packed - mourners were in the doorway and spilling outside.  At a luncheon and civic memorial later in the day, the crowd was even bigger.  My heart was warmed to see such an outpouring.  Many present didn't even know the man who died, but they knew he was a good man and they knew the wonderful things he had done.

Every now and then I've listed things we can all do to show kindness toward others. Here are some more: Let the person behind you in the grocery store go ahead of you in line. Invite someone new for dinner, either in your home or in a restaurant. Give toys to the children at a shelter. Say nice things randomly to friends (or even strangers) on social media. Buy some bottles of water and randomly hand them out to strangers on the street.  Volunteer at a senior center or a hospital.  What else?  Help us come up with some other ideas!

Love what you do

The late Steve Jobs inspired me by his work and the way he lived, and also with this great advice he gave us: "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."

Sometimes I have shared quotes here and one of my favorites comes from Mark Twain. He said "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."
