It's hard to believe that we have already reached the last day of the month! Wasn't New Year's just yesterday? Oh my! Has January been kind to you? More importantly, how kind have you been? Let the kindness continue right into the next month, an all our days to come.

my phone buddy
There is a guy in another city (where I used to live) who does an excellent job of keeping in touch. I'm always glad to receive his telephone calls. Sometimes you just want a good conversation and he is always there.

Caring people
I know so many loving caring people. It inspires me to be more loving and more caring too. I love when I see a random act of kindness, even when it is people I don't even know. It warms my heart. We need more such moments though. I just KNOW we can do it!

Do your little bit of good
Wonderful words of encouragement from Desmond Tutu: "Do your little bit of good where you are; those little bits put together overwhelm the world."

Kindness to everyone
Show kindness toward your friends, and your family, and your coworkers, and even the strangers you encounter. Show kindness to everyone!

Do Re Mi
Do Re Mi is the name of the musical that gave us that song Make Someone Happy. I love that song. I love the idea of making someone happy even more. Let's start at the very beginning (that sounds like another Make Do Re Mi) - making someone happy makes me happy. Wow! It's a never-ending circle. That' the way is really should be!

you are appreciated
Being told that you are appreciated, is one of the simplest yet most incredible things that you can ever hear!

Positive
Some folks say I am always positive. Yup. I agree. Let's all be positive. Let's all see the good in our world!

Albert Schweitzer said
"Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate." -Albert Schweitzer

like breathing out and breathing in
The selflessness we show comes naturally for many of us. It's like breathing out and breathing in. We don't even have to give it a thought. I'm sure you know folks like that. I think it is something that can easily be learned too. It just feels good. Whether it's natural or learned, being considerate and generous, makes others feel good too. Oh my!

Sharing is kind
Sharing is a very kind thing to do. I'm not just talking about sharing your property. There are many ways to share. May I suggest sharing this blog for example? Tell your friends! Oh and share your own thoughts about kindness with us. Just write in the comments section below.

We love our animals
Although my sister has loved all the dogs she has had over the years, there was a very special pug she called Bug. I think he was her favorite of all. I know he was a favorite of my. The other night Bug ran into the street and was hit by a car and killed. I can't tell you how many kind wishes have been sent my sister's way. Pets aren't human, but they do become part of the family. We love our animals and that's how it should be. Thank you to everyone who shares the love!

The Little Things
I've written here about specific things we can all do to show kindness, but we don't need lists. We don't need to keep thinking up more and more random acts of kindness. Yes, those are great but it's the little things we do each day that are so important. It's the natural kindness that we do without even thinking.

My elderly neighbor
Sometimes I worry about folks who live all alone, especially those in advanced years, but there is no need to worry about my elderly neighbor. Folks are always dropping by for short visits to say hello. Some offer to take him on errands and others bring food or other goodies for him to enjoy. The other day he told me he felt like a lucky guy with so many kind people in his life. Indeed!

Actually making a difference
The incredible Isaac Asimov once said "However, I continue to try and I continue, indefatigably, to reach out. There’s no way I can single-handedly save the world or, perhaps, even make a perceptible difference, but how ashamed I would be to let a day pass without making one more effort." This is the sort of thing that actually does makes a difference!

Oddball
I'm probably an oddball, but I love the winter! The cold months are my favorite and where I live we recently had a big snowfall, which was so pretty to look at. Of course there are nice things about the spring too and that is just days away. I love seeing flowers poking their way through the snow! Maybe I'll send some flowers today. That's not such an oddball thing. Everyone loves flowers!

Aesop says
A quote attributed to the Greek fabulist and storyteller Aesop says "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." How true that is!

Friday the 13th
Always be kind to everyone, but today be especially kind to those with paraskevidekatriaphobia. Being afraid of Friday the 13th is a real fear.

Specific acts
Being kind is so many different things. Some people try to think up specific acts. I do that sometimes myself. Being nice can be a pleasant greeting and a smile. I like to think of it as a way of life. Those random acts of kindness can be such powerful tools though to help us stay on the path. Even the nicest people need encouragement sometimes and intentionally doing something kind is great tonic to keep us moving forward.

Reach Out
See a neighbor struggling with her groceries? See a homeless person asking for a donation? See the coworker who has just lost his spouse? See the troubled individual who is all alone? Reach out! Don't let anyone need to be alone. Give the best gift you possibly can - the gift of your kind presence. Being there for others is such a rewarding gift.

Tell me a story
I could tell you a story this morning, but I usually tell you stories of sort here. I'd like to hear some of yours too! I'd really love to hear about so very kind act that someone once did for you. (It doesn't even have to be recent). A story about a kind act you did for someone else would be lovely too. Come on! Tell me a story!

Compliments
So many compliments lately - not only directed at me, but I have overheard folks complimenting each other. Another great example of kindness!

More random acts of kindness
Pay a compliment at least once a day. Transport someone who can’t drive. Make telephone calls in support of equality urging others to put aside hate. Say something nice to everyone you meet today. Tell your children why you love them. Call or visit a homebound person. Send a treat to a school or day-care center. Volunteer at an organization that needs help. Go through your closets and find several nice items and then donate them to a shelter.

follow those dreams
Everyday is a new opportunity to follow our dreams! One of my dreams is for the entire world to be filled with kindness.

Inspiration from Emerson
I really like these words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late." I'm also inspired by this that he said: "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

What is there to say?
A blog about kindness? Yup. That is what this is. What is there to say? Well, apparently a lot since we have been doing this for a couple of years. What are we missing though? Add some of YOUR thoughts in the comments section below. Of and kindly tell your friends too!

resolutions
I'm not sure how many people make New Year's resolutions these days but setting goals can always be a good thing. I'm sure you already know what I am going to say now. I resolve to be a kinder person, and I hope that you will join me.
