Being thankful

I have said this before, but feel I should say it more and more.  There seems to be a trend these days to not say thank you.  How unkind!  If someone does something special for you, acknowledge it.  Let them know you are grateful.  This is especially true when someone gives you a nice present or money.  Oh and if you donate to a charity, there should be a thank you also!  Money should always be acknowledged in writing too.  It's polite.  It's kind.  Spread the word.  Thanks!

Send a card to a friend

Today is National Send a Card to a Friend Day. It really is. I'm not making this up. Great idea though. We really have gotten away from nice things like sending cards in the mail, so why not reverse the trend and send out a bunch of cards today?

Yesterday we did a few, and today here are a few more random acts.  Give flowers to be delivered with meal delivery programs.  Give your full attention to someone in need and simply listen.  Stop by a nursing home, and visit a resident with no family nearby.  Have a clean-up party in the park.  Bring coworkers a special treat.  Draw names at work/school and have people bring a small gift or treat for their secret pal. Share your smile generously.  Spend some time serving food at a meal program for the needy.

Random February acts

On this wonderful February morning, here are some random acts of kindness.  Open the door for another person.  Call an estranged family member.  Give coffee to people on their way to work in the morning.  Leave a treat or handmade note of thanks for a delivery person or mail carrier.  Treat someone to fresh fruit.  Sing at a nursing home.  Leave an extra-large tip for the waitperson.  Tell a bus or taxi driver how much you appreciate their driving.  Give another driver your parking spot.

Super Sportsman

Lots of folks will be tuning in to a big football contest today and we will see some super performances and even some super commercials.  Remember to be a good sport too.  Whether your favorite teams wins or not, be kind.

February already

It's hard to believe that it's February already!  How did we get to the second month so quickly?  It seems like we were just decking the halls and shouting Happy New Year!  I guess time flies when you are being kind!
